How to Read Live 22 Match Odds Correctly
Match odds are the foundation of all sports betting. Yet many players — including those who have been on Live 22 for months — don't truly understand what those numbers mean. They know that higher odds mean a bigger payout if they win, but they're less clear on why odds are set the way they are and how they shift over time.
Let's start with the basics. In the decimal odds system that Live 22 uses by default, a number like 1.72, 2.50, or 4.80 represents the total amount you receive for every RM 1 staked — your original stake included. So if you place RM 100 on JDT at odds of 1.72 and JDT wins, you receive RM 172 (a net profit of RM 72). Simple enough, right?
But there is a more important dimension beyond simply knowing how to calculate a payout — and that is understanding that odds represent probability. Odds of 1.72 for JDT to win means the bookmaker is placing roughly 58% probability on JDT winning (formula: 1 ÷ 1.72 × 100 = 58.1%). Once you grasp this, you can start asking a far more useful question: "Do I think JDT has more or less than a 58% chance of winning tonight?"
The Three Odds Formats Available on Live 22
Live 22 offers three odds display formats that you can switch between based on your preference. Knowing all three is useful, especially when discussing bets with fellow players or reading analysis from international sources.
Decimal Odds: This is the most popular format in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, and the default on Live 22. It's easy to compare — the higher the number, the bigger the payout. Example: 2.50 means for every RM 1 staked, you receive RM 2.50 (profit of RM 1.50).
Fractional Odds: This format is popular in the United Kingdom. Odds of 3/2 mean that for every RM 2 you stake, you win RM 3 (excluding your stake). Your net return is therefore 1.5× your stake. It's a little less intuitive, but worth knowing if you follow analysis from British sports news outlets.
American (Moneyline) Odds: Used primarily in the United States. A positive number (+240) shows how much RM you win for every RM 100 staked. A negative number (-139) shows how much RM you need to stake to win RM 100. This format is less common among Malaysian players, but Live 22 offers it for the convenience of those who are familiar with it.

This is one of the most common questions from new players on Live 22. Why are the odds I see at 10 AM different from the odds available when I go to place my bet at 7 PM for the same match that night?
Odds change for several key reasons. First, news — a major player injury, lineup changes, or weather information can dramatically shift market sentiment. Second, money flow — when too much money comes in on one side, bookmakers adjust the odds to balance their risk. Third, new analysis and information that emerges as the match draws closer.
